Siding and roofing
Positive cement siding and roofing come off in whole pieces whenever they allow it and go straight into plastic wrap. MDH says the use of asbestos in these exterior products fell off quickly starting in the early 1980s.
Typical cost in Burnsville
Before a house, townhome or commercial building comes down, the asbestos in it has to come out. MPCA applies that to every structure, homes included. We remove siding, roofing and positive interior materials, so the wrecking crew starts on a clean building.
We take on teardown abatement in Burnsville, Savage and Prior Lake.

Ceilings, flooring, wall finishes and insulation that test positive are removed before the building is opened up.
Book the wrecking crew with a gap. MPCA wants abatement finished no less than two days ahead of demolition day, and if any asbestos is still there when a section is knocked down, every bit of rubble from that section must be treated as asbestos waste.
If you own an apartment building of five or more units, plan for a separate MPCA notice. About 3 in 10 Burnsville homes are in buildings like that. The same goes for commercial property. MPCA wants the notice at least ten working days before regulated asbestos is disturbed. A building of four units or fewer is exempt, except for these three cases: a house converted from another use, one of several homes a single owner is demolishing, or a building coming down for urban renewal, a highway or commercial development.
Burnsville’s single-family demolition handout lists permits for the house, its utilities and any accessory buildings, completed MPCA forms, and off-site disposal of every material, hazardous ones included. The city’s commercial building permit page sets out the same steps for commercial teardowns.
On the way out, asbestos waste stays damp inside sealed, labeled, leak-tight packaging, and a manifest follows it to a landfill that takes asbestos. The city handout asks for hazardous materials to be disposed of off site. Keep the manifest with your demolition records.
